FAYETTEVILLE — St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville will hold its annual colossal church feast on Sunday, Sept. 1, on the church grounds.
Come out and attend the Mass with polka music at 10 a.m., held in the Catholic church with Father Steve Sauser officiating. Local musicians will be part of the Mass by playing their instruments and singing along with the congregation.
A meal featuring barbecue pork and sausage, potatoes, sauerkraut, beans, pickles, and tea will be offered at $15. Serving will begin at 10:30 a.m. Plates will be available in the drive-thru line, or you can park your car and pick up plates to go to the hall and take advantage of buying the homemade pastries and kolaches and looking through the silent auction, live auction, and other booths.
After Mass, local musicians will provide music under the pavilion, lasting until auction time. At 1:30 p.m., barbecue sandwiches, sausage wraps, and nachos will be available all afternoon.
The country auction begins at 1:30 p.m. and typically features quilts, antiques, coins, livestock and much more.
Bingo will be played from 2 to 6 p.m. There will be a cake wheel, silent auction and a variety of kids’ activities.
Local church members will prepare over 200 dozen freshbaked kolaches of any variety you desire, which will be available for purchase at the parish hall on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Any kolaches not sold on Saturday, plus homemade pastries, will be available on Sunday.
The feast is known as a homecoming for many Fayetteville graduates and former residents.
This year, a portion of the St John the Baptist parish feast funds will be donated to Hospice Brazos Valley. Fayetteville’s St. John's Recreation Hall is located at 301 Bell St. in Fayetteville.
