Saturdays on the Square vendor market is back

COLUMBUS – The Columbus Farmers Market was first established in 2014.

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Farmers Market was first established in 2014.

Vendors still gather on the corner of Walnut Street (Highway 90), Travis Street and Milam Street across from the Colorado County Courthouse in Columbus.

Vendors come from all aspects of life … local farmers, gardeners, home backed goods, pickles, salsas, jellies, candles, plants, pottery, natural oils, handmade crafts jewelry, handmade soaps, cobblers, pies, breads, eggs and local live music.

Saturdays On The Square was established to provide a weekly market to encourage residents and out-of-town visitors to visit the courthouse square and shop with the local merchants.

Please note that the last Saturday of the month is reserved for Columbus Country Market which is a Columbus Chamber of Commerce sponsored event.

The vendors mission is to also expose to the youth and students of the community the importance of running a small independent business (raising chickens and ducks, lemonade stand, metal art, bird houses, plants).

Individuals providing community service hours and giving back to the community is the backbone of establishing stability to the local community.

“We want to keep our community moving forward and it starts with our youth. This is a win win for everyone,” said Debbie Damon.

Come by on the second Saturday of each month starting on March 11 from 8 a.m. to noon.
