Travelers are frequently ter - rified while driving on Highway 159 in Fayette County. Reports of near misses and accidents have gotten the attention of the Tx DOT.
Lucea'n Kuykendall, public information officer for the Tex - as Department of Transporta - tion (TxDOT), says, "TxDOT is aware of the recent crashes on SH 159 and is in the process of
supplementing additional sig - nage and message boards to better alert the traveling public of roadway conditions. We are currently starting the second of seven rehab sections working south from SH 237. The final lane configuration will consist of two 12-foot lanes and varying shoulder widths of five to eight feet. Estimated completion is late summer 2025."
