Local officers complete SWAT training

HOUSTON — The Austin County Sheriff's Office ex pressed its congratulations to Deputies John Cano and Cole Dyer on attending and graduating from the Houston Police Department Basic SWAT School. The course was focused on the basic understanding of SWAT operations, including SWAT history, selection/retention, equip- ment, liability issues, physical fit ness/wellness, weapons training, intelligence gathering/mission planning, rapid deployment/rapid rescue, barricaded persons, highrisk warrants, less-than-lethal ap- plications, noise-flash diversion ary devices, and chemical agents.

The course was extremely physical and the ACSO is very proud of their achievements.

Cano and Dyer will be assigned as new members to the Austin County Regional Special Response Team and thier training pipeline will continue with specialized schools and certifi cations.

The ACSO also congratulates Weimar PD Officer Jason Ellis, who also completed the course.
