Columbus resident arrested in possible connection to murder

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Police Department responded to the 1600 block of Fannin Street in Columbus on Sept. 29 at 2:53 a.m. about a gunshot victim.

The victim, Keandre M. Hurd, 26, of Columbus, succumbed to his wounds.

In the investigation into the shooting, where multiple shots were fired at the victim, a suspect was confirmed and ar rested.

The suspect, Nijay Johnson, 21, of Columbus, was arrested for the offense of Murder.

Johnson turned himself in to the Columbus Police Department later in the day.

No reason for the shooting has been given as of the press deadline as the Columbus Police Department continues to investigate this case. The CPD is asking for the assistance of anyone who may know about this crime to contact the CPD at 979-732-3351.
