BELLVILLE — Bellville Police Officer Victoria Bell was injured after her patrol car was rear-ended on Sept. 22 during a high-speed chase when the car being driven by the suspect vehicle seemed to ram Officer Bell deliberately.
Bell was taken to Bellville’s Midcoast Medical Center for evaluation but sustained no serious injuries and Cavazos was extracted from her vehicle and flown to an area hospital.
According to Bellville Police Chief Jason Smalley, during a 3 a.m. pursuit that originated out of Sealy over a traffic violation and reached speeds of up to 100 miles per hour as the suspect, Jasmine Cavazos, 18, of Conroe, sped up State Highway 36 North. Officer Bell was parked on the side of the road near Faith Academy with her lights on, ready to intercept Cavazos. Cavozos then drove off the side of the road and rammed Officer Bell in what seemed to be a deliberate attempt to crash into the police.
