The Austin County Sheriff’s
Office Criminal Investigations Division (CID) initiated an inves - tigation into allegations of theft from the Bellville Little League. The allegations were first re - ported to the Bellville Police De -
partment. Still, due to the facts surround - ing this case, the ACSO CID, in coordination with the Austin County District Attorney, took over the investigation. Claims were made that sug -
gested someone was stealing money from concession stand re - ceipts from the 2023-2024 base - ball season. Investigators discovered over $10,000 had been stolen from the league through bank and league records.
On Sept. 25, Ashley Hoffman Slater of Bellville was indicted by an Austin County Grand Jury for Theft of Property $2,500 - $30,000.
As a result, on Sept. 26, Slater was arrested by ACSO CID in - vestigators concerning this case and was booked into the Austin County Jail in Bellville without incident.
