ST. ROCH BLOOD DRIVE SET

FRELSBURG — The Frelsburg Knights of Columbus Council will be selling chicken and sausage barbecue to go Sunday, Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at Sts. Peter & Paul Diamond Center in Frelsburg. SENIORS TOGETHER SOCIAL SCHEDULE

Seniors Together, a place for senior’s, 55 years or older to so- cialize with others is held every first and third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Lighthouse Fellowship Hall at 201 Veteran’s Dr. in Columbus. and at the Weimar Civic Center in Weimar on the second and fourth Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The events includes card games, board games, Bingo with prizes, coffee and tea, movies, lunch provided, educational speakers, field trips including trips to casinos and so cial gathering.

WEIMAR CHESS CLUB TO BEGIN

WEIMAR — The Weimar Chess Club (WCC) meets every Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at the Weimar Public Library in Weimar. The WCC is free to ages 5 to adult. David McCall is the club sponsor. He is a retired science teacher (15 years), elementary school counselor (20 years) and has 19 years experience as a scholastic chess coach. He will provide free chess instructions and start each WCC meeting with a short lesson, which is followed with casual play time following International Chess Federation rules. LGVF TO HOLD FUND RAISER BENEFIT

LA GRANGE — The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department (LGVF) will hold its 39th annual fund raiser benefit fish fry, drive-thru only, Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange. The cost of the meal is a free will donation.

The event is co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceeds will go toward the purchase of new equipment.

HOLY CROSS PARISH BAZAAR SLATED EAST BERNARD — The Holy Cross Parish in East Bernard will hold a bazaar Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Riverside Hall in East Bernard. The barbecue beef, chicken and sausage meal with homemade dressing will be served inside at 11 a.m. and drive-thru plates available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Hamburgers will be served at 3 p.m. The event will include indoor and outdoor games from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will also be plenty of pastries, refreshments and country store items. LA GRANGE PLANS FALL CLEANUP DAYS LA GRANGE — The City of La Grange has designated Oct.

10 through 17 as Fall Cleanup Days. The city will pick up one free load of brush during these days. One load of brush is defined as not more than one pickup truck load. If you have logs, please separate them from the branches. Also, please make sure there is no trash, no piles of leaves, no lumber, or construction debris mixed in with the brush. The following schedule will be observed: Oct.

PARISH FALL FESTIVAL TO BE HELD EAGLE LAKE — The Parish of the Nativity at 308 N. Stevenson St. in Eagle Lake will hold its annual Fall Festival Sunday, Oct. 20. Eucharist in Spanish will be at 8 a.m. and English at 10 a.m. The barbecue chicken and sausage meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $13 per plate (curb service will be available). A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Other activities include food booths, cake and plant walk, country store, kids games and soccer tournament.

EL SENIOR CITIZEN DANCE SCHEDULE EAGLE LAKE — The schedule for the Eagle Lake Senior Cit- izen Dance held the first Friday of each month from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Eagle Lake Community Center at 100 W. Walnut in Eagle Lake is: Oct. 4-Al Sulak & The Country Sounds; Nov. 1-No dance-early voting at the community center; and Dec. 6-Blue Denim (Christmas Dance).

ST. JOHN TO SERVE ROAT BEEF/SAUSAGE MEAL ELLINGER — St. John Luthera Church in Ellinger will serve roast beef and sausage meal, drive-thru to go only, Sunday, Oct. 13 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The meal is $15 per plate and desserts will be available. Everyone is encouraged to buy advance tickets.

COOL CATS & SLY DOGS CAR SHOW BENEFIT LA GRANGE — The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange will host their inaugural Cool Cats and Sly Dogs Car Show benefit Saturday, Nov. 2 beginning at 11 a.m.on the Fayette County Courthouse square the after 5 p.m. at The Crown Bar at 114 S. Main St. in La Grange. Activities include a car show, chili cookoff, silent auction, a drawing for a 1955 Ford pickup and live music. Tickets for the truck drawing are $25. The truck is a “Resto- mod” 1955 F-100 powered by a 302 cu. in. V-8 with an automatic transmission, tilt hood and air conditioning. The band, Passing Strangers will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. on the square. Parking and registration for the car show starts at 8 a.m. that morning.
