Knights set all… a Texas all-time record

BELLVILLE — It was a “Knight” to remember on Friday, Oct. 4 at SAB Stadium in Bellville.

The Faith Academy Knights took on the Knights of Valor Prep out of Waco.

This game turned out to be a contest that ended in a final score of 148-112 in favor of Faith Academy. With a combined total of 260 points, it sets two Texas High School records; 148-most points in a game, as well as the combined score record. That record was 246 set back in 2017.

Senior Travis Woodley had a game to talk about in his own right…..13 carries for 284 yards and 11 TDs. He also added three catches for 89 yards and another TD from junior QB Christian Pillow. Junior RB Jackson Dunn added 196 yards on nine carries and six TDs, mainly in the second half. He had fever to start the game, but toughed through to join in the victory.

Junior Josh Stark also had a stellar game with the ball in his hands. He had 162 return yards and a TD, as well as six carries for 63 yards and another TD.

Last play of the half for FA, Coach Carter called a trick play on a reverse pass, where senior Cash Eckermann brought his baseball arm out to play and found Dunn in the corner of the end zone to make the score 70-54 at half.

People have asked, not much defense? Woodley led the defense with 14 tackles followed by Eckermann with nine. The only way Coach Carter can describe this monumental game is Valor Prep threw the ball 90% of the time adding a lot of clock stoppages. Faith Academy ran the ball 90% of the time.

The FA Knights were led upfront by their offensive line consisting of sophomore Kayden Marcotte, center; senior Dylan Callihan, TE, and sophomore Wyatt Davis, TE. Their superb blocking led to huge holes and springing the FA ball carriers for many big gains.

Callihan had the first TD of the contest after Stark ran a kick return down to the 3 yard line. Sophomore Dyllan Olivares added 22 of 24 extra points in the contest. In 6-man football, extra point field goals are worth two, instead of one in normal 11-man. He had one kick blocked and one bad snap. That ended up being the difference in the game with the Knights eventually winning by 36.

The efforts of all the Knights led to the biggest victory in school and Texas High School Football History.

Sophomores Kelton Galle and Gage Wilson had superb outings. They added extreme pressure to the QB of Valor Prep that lead to three forced turnovers for FA. Freshman Michael Satterwhite added three tackles in his new role on the defense. Sophomore Riley Heyman was in charge of the hugest part of field positions with excellent kickoffs all night. He placed his kicks in perfect spots to help the Knights pin Valor deep in their territory. He also helped on the offensive line in the second half with some good blocks that sprung Dunn and Woodley.

Other contributions by freshman Anthony Best and Quinton Moore and sophomore Ellis Lan- ham, were made on the field goal block team. The Knights blocked four extra points on the night.

Sophomore Michael Wilson also got in on the action with four tackles on the kickoff team and some good blocks on the field goal team. Junior QB Pillow ended the contest going 6-12 with 116 yards and one INT. That is his first INT of the season on a great catch by the Valor defender. It was kind of a different game for Pillow who normally throws 25-30 times a game. But Valor couldn’t stop the run from the Knights so FA decided to dominate the running game.

The Knights ended the contest with 884 yards in total with over 530 rushing, 132 passing, and 211 in returns.

The Knights will start their TAPPS district competition this week traveling to Kingwood to take on Kingwood Covenant Prep, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. GO KNIGHTS!
