WEIMAR CHESS CLUB TO BEGIN
WEIMAR — The Weimar Chess Club (WCC) meets every Tuesday from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. at the Weimar Public Library in Weimar. The WCC is free to ages 5 to adult. David McCall is the club sponsor. He is a retired science teacher (15 years), elementary school counselor (20 years) and has 19 years experience as a scholastic chess coach. He will provide free chess instructions and start each WCC meeting with a short lesson, which is followed with casual play time following International Chess Federation rules. LGVF TO HOLD FUND RAISER BENEFIT
LA GRANGE — The La Grange Volunteer Fire Department (LGVF) will hold its 39th annual fund raiser benefit fish fry, drive-thru only, Sunday, Oct. 20 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the KC Hall in La Grange. The cost of the meal is a free will donation.
The event is co-sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and proceeds will go toward the purchase of new equipment.
HARVEST CARNIVAL TO BE HELD
FAYETTEVILLE — The Fayetteville PTC will be holding their Harvest Carnival Friday, Oct. 25 from 4:30 TO 8 p.m. at St.
John’s Catholic Church Hall/Pavilion located at 205 Bell St. in Fayetteville. The event will include games, cake walk, haunted house, costume contest and raffle. FISD students will be selling raffle tickets at $10 per ticket. Beef stew, chili, hotdogs nachos, Frito pie and drinks will be available. Meals are available for dine in the hall, under the pavilion or to go. The Harvest Carnival is the largest fundraiser for the PTC. It’s a fun night for FISD and the community. HARVEST FESTIVAL PLANNED
CARMINE — Martin Luther Lutheran Church Harvest Festival will be held Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Carmine Hall in Carmine.
Worship service begins at 9:30 a.m. Confirmation classes ending in the years 4 and 9 will be recognized. Krause Duo will lead the worship music. A meal of pork ribeye and sausage, potatoes and green beans will be served from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meal tickets are $15. Tickets for the drawing are one for $20 or three for $50.

PARISH FALL FESTIVAL TO BE HELD
EAGLE LAKE — The Parish of the Nativity at 308 N. Stevenson St. in Eagle Lake will hold its annual Fall Festival Sunday, Oct. 20. Eucharist in Spanish will be at 8 a.m. and English at 10 a.m. The barbecue chicken and sausage meal will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at $13 per plate (curb service will be available). A live auction will begin at 1 p.m. Other activities include food booths, cake and plant walk, country store, kids games and soccer tournament.

COOL CATS & SLY DOGS CAR SHOW BENEFIT
LA GRANGE — The Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange will host their inaugural Cool Cats and Sly Dogs Car Show benefit Saturday, Nov. 2 beginning at 11 a.m.on the Fayette County Courthouse square the after 5 p.m. at The Crown Bar at 114 S. Main St. in La Grange. Activities include a car show, chili cookoff, silent auction, a drawing for a 1955 Ford pickup and live music. Tickets for the truck drawing are $25. The truck is a “Resto- mod” 1955 F-100 powered by a 302 cu. in. V-8 with an automatic transmission, tilt hood and air conditioning. The band, Passing Strangers will perform from 1 to 4 p.m. on the square. Parking and registration for the car show starts at 8 a.m. that morning.
