The Columbus Historical Preservation Trust (CHPT) announced Oct. 10 as the official date for their landmark book, “Seasons of Colorado County,” to make its public debut. The book can be ordered now online (www.herringpress. com) and is available at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce offices. The 168page, hard-cover book celebrates Colorado County as photographed by over 70 contributors. The project, which started two years ago, is the result of numerous contributions, both photographed and written.

Contributing essays were penned by The Honorable Ty Prause, Sandra C. Thomas, PhD, Ester Chandler, Charlotte Tilotta, Karen Beken, Robby Cook, Dr. Thomas B. Hancher, MD and James (Jim) Kearney, PhD.

President Julie Prause and Secretary Doris Klaus spearheaded the project for CHPT. “We settled on the theme of “seasons” as we thought about how to show the multiple facets of this county,” said Julie. “We have so much to celebrate here, and we wanted viewers to have a real sense of the people and this unique and historic area.”

Photographers and organizations that contributed to the book include Tammy Aguilar, Carina Alonso, Zach Anderson, Pierce Arthur, Clara Bartek, Susan Baumgart, Abbie Bell, Big Easy Ranch, Alyssa Bonorden, Jerry Brown, Alisha Brummett, Cody Brune, Danette Cantu, Ester Chandler, Crescent Moon Pictures, Cook Family Farms, Lauren Dahse, Deborah Kerr Damon, Eagle Lake Depot Museum, Casey Fedako, Lina Ferguson, Kris Green, Ron Grimes, Tammy Heger, Kayla Killifer Henkhaus, Jerry Herring, Joan Herring, JaShae Horn, Evelyn Howel, Frank Howell, Shirley Isbell, Shelley Janik, Missy Jurica, Charmaine Katz, Donna Kennedy, Darby Klaus, Doris Klaus, Emil Knodell, Erica Kollaja, Amanda Kridel, Dr. Robert James Lowe, Carol Lyon, John Magara, Mary Mattingly, Steve McCullough, Wendy Alley Mladenka, Nesbitt Memorial Library Archives, Christina New, Brian Novak, Missy Parker, Barbara Peterman, Charles Potter, Julie Prause, James Prichard, David Ramirez, Vicki Reeves, Dr. Robert Salchak, Barbara Scherer, Ken Sparks, Splashway Waterpark, Kacey Stewart, Shane Theriot, Heather Hancher Thomas, Caleb Townley, Stacie Townley, Ashley Vanicek, Tom Vining, Brandon Vos, Debbie Wahlberg, Tracy Wegenhoft, Shelly Wied, Wildseed Farms, Vicki Wiste, and Beckey Zajicek.

Keri Sherman, Seasons events chairwoman, has lined up events through the fall to ensure everyone is aware of this community effort. “The list of those who helped make this project a reality is extensive,” she explained. “We are so appreciative of the community’s response in making this book, and we think it will be well received around the county. This is an amazing record of the special place we live in every day.”

The book is available locally and online now at www.herringpress.com. The hard-cover, all-color book will retail for $45. In October, books ordered online can be mailed out or picked up at the Columbus Chamber of Commerce Office at 425 Spring St. in Columbus.
