Columbus Garden Club announces October awards

The Columbus Garden Club awarded October Yard of the Month to Jane Hill at 1220 Travis in Columbus for her well-manicured lawn and varied garden beds. Her drought-tolerant garden beds include blooming white and purple lantana specimens and a long bed of red yucca that is striking even when not blooming. Other beautiful flowering plants include knockout roses and pink, white, and purple Angelonia.
The October Community Beautification Award was awarded to Tri-County Realty at 1114 Milam St. in Columbus. The scarecrows seated outside this storefront are smiling and you would be, too, if you were sitting among the surrounding festive fall decor and blooms. It takes a few minutes to take it all in from the fall wreath to bright orange pumpkins to budding mums to pots of a variety of blooming annuals.
