WEIMAR — Weimar football hosted Bloomington High School Oct. 18 at Wildcats Field in Weimar for homecoming night and won hand- edly by a final score of 58-12.
Weimar dominated with their running game for the entire contest and was too much offensively for Bloomington to keep up with while holding their own on defense.
“We’ve been waiting for these games here,” said Weimar head football coach Wade Griffin. "We've been playing the dang best teams in the state of Texas. We’ve been ready to play a team that we can run the football against like this. We feel like we’re in a good spot moving forward, definitely."
Senior quarterback Huxton Kloesel scored a bunch during the outing while also calling the shots on offense.
“I think it for sure secures a playoff spot,” Kloesel said. “We’ll be able to probably play a lot more relaxed from here on out. It helps us really bounce back after that loss last week. It gives us more confi dence too, so going forward we should have a lot more confidence." Weimar had a 12-0 lead af - ter the first quarter on a goal line touchdown from Kloesel and another goal line run from junior running back Jerron Fisher about midway through the quarter.
Kloesel ran for another 8-yard on the first play of the second quarter as he rolled right on a quarterback keeper.
Bloomington responded a couple minutes later on a trick pass play for 47 yards to make it 19-6 after a missed extra point.
A touchdown from senior running back Dereon Johnson at the 7:12 mark gave Weimar a 26-6 advantage at halftime, then the Wildcats had a big third quarter and put up 19 points on a 42-yard run from Fisher and two runs from senior running back Zach Nor- rell, one on a five-yard touch - down and one for 35-yards on a run around the edge down
the Bloomfield sideline for a 45-6 lead at the end of the third quarter.
One more 13-yard touchdown from Norrell put it at 52-6 with just above 10 min utes to go in the fourth quarter, then sophomore running back Ty Chmelik closed out the game with a 10-yard run at the 30 second mark for a 5812 victory.
