The county-wide feral hog contest is being held to give land - owners, producers, and sports men an opportunity to control feral hogs in Fayette County. The feral hog population causes Fayette County Agricul - ture producers economic losses through crop destruction, pasture and livestock losses, and environ - mental damage. The winter contest begins on Saturday, Nov. 2 and ends on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025. Prize money will be awarded to the individuals who officially enter the most feral hogs during the contest. Fayette County Commissioner's Court, Fayette County Farm Bureau, and an Anonymous Donor are providing premium money in the following amounts: 1st- $250, 2nd-$200, 3rd- $175, 4th- $150, 5th $125, 6th- $100, 7th- $75, 8th- $50, 9th- $50, and 10th- $25. The contest will conclude at noon on Jan. 6, 2025.
The contest rules are as fol- lows: 1. All feral hog ears entered in this contest must be taken in Fay - ette County. 2. Feral hogs can be taken by any lawful method, but it is ille - gal to buy a feral hog from anoth - er person to enter in the contest.
3. The animal's ears must be brought in, to be eligible for the contest. 4. All feral hog ears entered in the program will be marked by being spray painted and will become the property of Fayette County.
5. No ears from domestic hogs will be accepted.
The official check-in location will be the Texas A&M AgriL - ife Extension Service Office at 255 Svoboda Ln., Room 134, in La Grange. Official check-in will only be taken at this location during normal business hours. This program is being spon - sored by the Texas A&M AgriL -
