WEIMAR — In a high-stakes chase that unfolded near Weimar, Colorado County deputies raced after a suspect who refused to stop, speeding recklessly away from law enforcement.
As the scene escalated, Weimar PD Officer Jimmy Schnieder clocked the fleeing vehicle at over 120 miles per hour.
The drama reached a crescendo when the suspect, whose identity remains unknown at press time, suddenly lost control of his vehicle, crashing at the intersection of North Center and Main Street in Weimar.
Miraculously, no property was damaged aside from the wreckage of the suspect's car.
In a desperate move, the suspect duped an unsuspecting citizen—unaware of the pursuit by law enforcement—into giving him a ride to Columbus Community Hospital. Thanks to the sharp eyes of witnesses who provided crucial information, law enforcement was able to apprehend the runaway suspect, bringing the harrowing chase to a close.
