Eagle Lake Noon Lions hosts Habitat for Humanity speaker

EAGLE LAKE — Eagle Lake Noon Lions Club recently hosted guest speaker Charmaine Katz, the executive director of Colorado County Habitat for Humanity, located in Columbus.

Habitat welcomes volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds and serves people needing decent housing regardless of race or religion.

It is part of a global, nonprofit hous ing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities and hope.

As a new Habitat homeowner, Nicole Posada and her family will help build their own home in Weimer, working alongside Habitat volunteers. Posada has committed to put in 250 hours of 'sweat equity' in the process.

Colorado County Habitat for Human- ity was started in this area in 1996 on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety.

There have been 30 homes built throughout the county during these 28 years.
