BELLVILLE Michele Rene Bryan, 58, of Florida, was recently arrested following an attempted fraudulent check-cashing scheme. However, not before taking Bellville officers on a chase on Farm-to-Market Road 456 toward Buckhorn.
The officers responded to a call from the First National Bank of Bellville on Oct. 28 about a female trying to cash a fraudulent check. The suspect left before officers. Her vehicle was found on FM 1456, but she refused to stop and began throwing checks out the window.
She stopped on Jackson Road with the help of the Austin County Sheriff’s Office.
Bryan had liquid and powdered Fentanyl, and crack cocaine. It was learned that Bryan had stolen $3,200 from an account using a stolen identification card and a stolen debit/credit card, tried to cash another check for over $2,000 in a different name and tried to cash a check for $2,896, but the bank caught the check before it could be cashed.
Bryan was charged with three counts of possession of controlled substances, three counts of forgery by check, fraudulent use and possession of identifying information, failure to identify and Florida warrants.
