SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Dr. Larry Hatfield, DDS, of La Grange, was awarded a Diplomate degree from the International Academy of Sleep (IAOS) on Oct. 26, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. His award comes after successfully completing a rigorous yearslong program in Dental Sleep Medicine focused on the comprehensive treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

Over the 12-month term, Dr.

Hatfield attended monthly virtu al training sessions and quarterly in-person meetings across the country, where he furthered his knowledge on recognizing, educating, and treating patients on OSA. Also, as part of the degree requirements, Dr. Hatfield pre sented eight completed case studies for peer review and a PowerPoint presentation on the public education of OSA. This past July, he successfully completed the fi nal written examination.

A member of IAOS since 2022, Dr. Hatfield was one of three doc tors from his cohort to graduate from the advanced program. In August, he was named IAOS Member of the Month, and he and his staff have been recognized for their commitment and dedication to the program. Dr. Hatfield is excited to continue offering this life-saving treatment to the area as a trusted local leader with first hand experience of OSA.
