Fayetteville falls to Richards in three sets

CALDWELL — The Fayetteville High School volleyball team went down to Richards High School Nov. 12 at Caldwell High School Gym in Caldwell by a final score of 22-25, 13-25, 1925. A close first set led to Rich - ards settling in and finding their rhythm throughout the match, leading to all kinds of offense. "I'm very proud of my team," said Fayetteville head volleyball coach Clint Jaeger. “I thought we played very well against a very good team. I have nothing bad to say about our effort or anything.

I think we played great. They’re just a really good team. Very experienced. All their girls were starters since they were fresh man. They know what it takes and I think that was the big dif - ference tonight. They had more playoff experience than we did. I'm so proud of our girls for the way they performed tonight. We did great." A close first set for it's en tirety had a lead change as big as two for Richards. Fayetteville only had a lead as big as one at certain points in the set. After a mishit from the Lady Lions tied the set at 22 after going back and forth for the entire set, a kill from Richards followed by two aces in a row won Richards the set 25- 22.

The second set was tight-knit again to begin with until Richards started to pull ahead and gain a 16-10 advantage after a kill. A kill from Fayetteville ju nior Devynn Moeckel made it 21-- 12, then a ball out of bounds from Fayetteville, a kill from Richards, and a ball in the net from the Lady Lions won Richards the set 25-13.

Richards started the third set on a faster pace with an 8-4 lead after an ace. Fayetteville fought back and answered with a few points to make it 8-7 and traded punches for the middle of the set, even tying the match at 11-11 on a kill from sophomore hitter Lain ey Gromaski. The Lady Panthers extended their lead on an ace at 16-12, then a kill from Richards made it 21-16, forcing Fayette ville to call a timeout. Another ace from Richards followed by a serve in the net from the Lady Lions, a kill from Richards, and a serve out of bounds from Fay etteville won Richards the set and match 25-19.
