Future of St. Mark's Hospital revisited

Future of St. Mark's Hospital revisited
St. Mark's Hospital in La Grange, ceased all operations on Oct. 12, 2023 due to financial difficulties. Talks are still ongoing in the potential reopening of the hospital that is so desperately needed in the area.

LA GRANGE - The future of the building that once housed St. Mark's Hospital is still in question. A meeting to discuss the future of the building took place at the Fayette County Courthouse on Nov. 8 in La Grange. Fayette County Judge Dan Mueller, Court Coordinator Cassie Austin and EMS Director Josh Vandever hosted the meeting. State Senator Lois Kolkhorst and her staff and State Representative Stan Kitzman were in attendance, along with Jim Cantrell and Alan Carlisle, rep - resenting Green Jay Capital LLC. This entity purchased the HUD note. Mueller said, "Director Vandever, Senator Kolkhorst, Representative Kitz - man, and I made it abundantly clear that we want and we need a hospital at that location." At least one group has already ex - pressed an interest in operating a hospi - tal within the facility. Green Jay Capital has stated that they purchased the note as an investment. Vandever stated, "While they are in the preliminary stages of deciding what the future of the facility will be, they seemed actively engaged in finding out what the needs and wants of the com - munity are with respect to the facility and voiced their intention to keep local stakeholders in mind when deciding how to proceed."
