EAGLE LAKE The Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce states that each year, the Eagle Lake Chamber of Com - merce selects a local citizen who has contributed their time and energy to the betterment of our town to serve as the Christmas Parade Marshal. This year, the chamber has chosen to posthumous- ly honor Mary Ann Kaluza, who passed away in April.
Kaluza was the daughter of Miles and Mary Theuman and the wife of Johnnie Kaluza. She was also the moth er to Susan Kaluza Gertson and John Kaluza; and grandmother to Drew and Tyler Gertson, John Allen and Michael Kaluza. She worked 50 years in the in - surance business before retiring in 2021 at the age of 72.
Everyone who knew her knew she was dedicated to her hometown. She contributed countless hours in many lo- cal organizations, including Revitalize Eagle Lake, the Eagle Lake Chamber of Commerce, The Downtown Associa tion, and Friends of the Library.
Kaluza was also very busy in her church, The Parish of the Nativity Catholic Church.
She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Kaluza passed away on April 15. Her closest friends said she will never be forgotten as a friend, a volunteer and a community supporter. She did so much for so many organizations and is missed so very much as we move forward with out her.
Kaluza's grandsons will ride in the parade marshal’s position, to honor their memories of her bringing them to town each year to watch the Christmas parade pass by.
