Moulton handles Bellville in girl’s basketball

BELLVILLE - The Bellville High School girl’s basketball team was defeated by Moulton High School Dec. 3 at Brahmas Gym in Bellville by a final score of 44-20. The Lady Bobkatz had the of fense going throughout the entire game with play making and hit - ting shots, which posed too much for Bellville as they had trouble keeping up with Moulton's scor -

ing ability. "It's early for us," said Bellville

head girl’s basketball coach Mike Dewitz. "We really don't have our legs under us. Just handling the pressure of people pressing us. Getting a little bit smarter with our decision making mov - ing the ball down the floor. We were just a little rattled. I had a few players that just had a few practices, so they're just getting fresh to what we're doing. It's just getting comfortable with what we're doing. It's only our second game. They've played 10, so it makes a difference. Our intensity level needs to pick up. Offensive- ly, defensively, both sides of the ball.”

Moulton had an 18-10 lead at the 3:03 mark in the second quarter and made another basket to take a 20-10 lead at halftime. After a layup from the Lady Bobkatz to start the third quarter, Bellville junior Maggie Davoody drove for a layup of her own to put it at 22-12. A pull up jumper from Brahmanettes sophomore point guard Addison Hollomon about midway through the quar ter cut it to eight, then Moulton hit a shot near the elbow, two threes, and a free throw in the final few minutes to surge ahead 33-16 at the end of the third quarter.

The Lady Bobkatz continued their sharp shooting in the fourth quarter with another three from the wing and a jumper near the free throw line for a 38-16 advan - tage, which led to Moulton coast - ing as they hit one more three pointer and controlled the ball,

as well as the clock to ultimately win at 44-20.
