The Lady Knights began their district season on Dec. 10, with a loss to the Founders Christian School Lady Falcons 48-16. Scoring for the Lady Knights were Hayley Gillen with 10 points; Jasmin Becerra, Lilly Kuespert and Peyton Eckmann with 2.
The Lady Knights then traveled to Runge to play in their varsity tournament Dec. 13 and Dec. 14.
The Lady Knights placed third in the tournament with Gillen being named to the All-Tournament team.
The Lady Knights began the tournament with a loss to the Victoria Lady Cobras 40-20. Scoring in this game for the Lady Knights were Gillen with 16, and Kuespert and Eckermann with 2.
The Lady Knights then played a thrilling game with Faith Academy Victoria prevailing 29-28.
The Lady Knights trailed 1811 at half and then played the last four minutes of the game with only three players on the court as three players had fouled out. They continued to play hard and came away with the 1-point victory.
Freshman Jasmin Becerra hit two clutch free throws with under a minute to play to seal the victory.
Scoring in this game for the Lady Knights were Gillen with 13, Kuespert with 9, Becerra with 6 and Savanah Beck with 1.
The final game of the tourna ment saw the Lady Knights playing the Victoria Lady Gators in the third place game.
The Lady Knights played their stifling defense holding the Lady Gators to only 15 points while scoring 31.
Leading the way for the Lady Knights scoring were Gillen with 10, Becerra with 8, Eckermann with 7, Kuespert with 4 and Luisa Morrison with 2.
The Lady Knights have another district game on Friday, Dec. 20 before taking off for the Christmas break.
