Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported on Dec. 13, around 4:21 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting an 18-wheeler truck on fire on Interstate 10 eastbound at the 663 mile marker. The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene. Flatonia P.D. officers and Deputies Herman Olvera and Cedar Chase also responded to the fire. Upon arrival, the truck was reportedly fully involved in a fire. Assistance from the Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department was requested and they responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished, and no injuries were reported. The trailer contained food items, and it is believed the fire originated in the engine area.
