Colorado and Fayette counties has continued its burn ban as the recent rains were not enough to set aside the drought and the dry grasses.
Outdoor burning has been banned unless it falls under the legal exceptions.
Legal exceptions include household trash burning with an enclosed covered receptacle with mesh material with no more than a one-fourth-inch opening and supervision in a safe area clear of debris. Barbecues are okay using above- ground grills with enclosed fireboxes and attended at all times.
Controlled burns are necessary for planting and harvesting ag crops with a defensible space around the burn area, the presence of fire suppression tools, and supervision.
Non-profit and religious organiza tions shall be allowed to prepare barbe- cue provided they contact the local fire department in advance.
Outdoor welding is okay under several circumstances.
The counties adopted an order prohibiting and restricting the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the unincorporat - ed areas of the counties. Restricted fire -
works are classified as "skyrockets with sticks" and "missiles with fins."
If there is any doubt about starting a
fire of any kind, contact the the judge's office for a copy or a rundown of your
