LA GRANGE — Lady Leopards soccer started the season with a scrimmage at Leopards Field Dec.17 as they split the team into two groups to face off against each other: the pink team and the purple team. Although the purple team was able to create some offense, it was the pink team that was able to get the ball on the opposite side of the field more throughout the game.

“We’ve got a lot to work on,” said La Grange head girl’s soccer coach Lauren Hubbert. “We’ve got some promising ability up top. I’m looking forward to our girls that are playing up top this year. We’ve got some kiddos who can throw the ball some distance. We’re developing plays and working on just building that team chemistry. We’ve got a lot of new faces and new shoes to fill, so we're looking forward to continuing to build those relationships. Build our foundation as a team this year and see where it takes us.”

The pink team scored a short goal early to get things going, then went on to control most of the game offensively. There was some back and forth action between the two teams, but the pink team seemed to be in scoring position a lot more than the purple team. The purple team did have some offensive pressures in the first half, though, and it was the same scenario for the second half as purple had a few times where they were able to get the ball past midfield.

It was the sturdy defense and steady moving offense from the pink team that prevailed as they scored the only goal of the match for a 1-0 victory.
