Fayette County Czech Heritage Society holds Christmas party and meeting

LA GRANGE — The annual Fayette County Czech Heritage Society Christmas party was held on Dec. 10 at TCHCC in La Grange.

The evening began with socializing and singing Czech party songs and Christmas carols to the music of Jimmie Fucik on accordion. A catered meal of turkey and dressing by Richters Catering was served with a cake baked by H•E•B Bakery.

Vera Wehring won the Czech trivia contest created by Carolyn Heinsohn. The attendees also participated in a White Elephant gift exchange.

There event also included a short meeting. New members that joined in 2024 were John Bartos; Mark Hoffmann; John, Bonnie, Madelyn, Lillie Karstedt, David and Megan Matula; David Otahal; Stacey Ryza; and Marian Tajchmann.

Happy Birthday wishes were extended to those celebrating in the months of October, November and December. They include Barbara Eilert, Renee Hranicky, Liz Kallus, Marilyn Kothmann, Lorenda Polasek, Johnnie Polasek, Stacey Ryza and Marian Tajchman.

Bonny and Madelyn Karstedt reported an update on the pastry booth at Schmeckenfest.

The proceeds benefit the Royalty Fund to help with pageant costs. Fayette CHS member Madelyn Karstedt is the reigning Miss Texas Czech-Slovak Queen.

The next Fayette CHS meeting will be the annual soup social in Febrary 2025, at 2 p.m., at TCHCC in La Grange.

The election of officers for 2025 will be held.
