TxDOT seeks public feedback on FM 102

The proposed project would widen and realign FM 102 to enhance safety and bring the roadway into compliance with current design standards.

YOAKUM – The Texas Department of Transportation (Tx-DOT) will host an in-person public meeting with a virtual option for proposed improvements to FM 102 from I-10 to 0.66 miles south of FM 949. No formal pre sentation is planned, and community members are invited to come and go at their convenience.

TxDOT proposes to widen and realign a 6.4-mile section of FM 102 in Colorado County, Texas. The corridor would maintain its existing two-lane footprint while widening the shoulders and rehabilitating existing curves to enhance safety and bring the roadway into compliance with current design standards.

The in-person public meeting will be held in an open-house format. Attendees can view informational display boards and other project materials, ask Tx-DOT staff and/or consultants questions, and leave written comments. The in-person option will be held today (Thursday, Jan. 9), from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Colum - bus High School Cafeteria, 103 Cardinal Lane, Columbus, TX 78934.

A virtual public meeting will be available starting today (Thursday, Jan. 9), by 5 p.m. To view the materials, visit TxDOT. gov, and keyword search “FM 102 from I-10 to 0.66 miles south of FM 949." The virtual public meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation with audio and visual components.

Participants will be able to view the same project materials available at the in-person public meeting.

Comments must be received by Friday, Jan. 24, to be included in the official record of this pub lic meeting. Written comments from the public regarding the proposed project are requested and may be submitted by mail to the TxDOT Yoakum District Office, 403 Huck St., Yoakum, TX 77995. Written comments may also be submitted by email to [email protected] or by phone by calling 361- 293-- 4328.

Responses to comments received will be available online at www.txdot.gov once they have been prepared.
