WEIMAR — The Flatonia High School boy’s basketball team took down Weimar High School Jan. 7 at Wildcats Gym in Weimar by a final score of 51-40.

This was a game that the Bull dogs controlled for it's majority with their shot making, ability to get to the rim, and solid rebounding.

"We did a really good job of playing defense today," said first-

year Flatonia head boy’s basket - ball coach Lance Geise. “Re - bounding as well. Especially the first half. Second half, they got us a little bit, but all in all, defense and rebounding."

Flatonia senior guard Keegan Green had a big scoring night and hit a bunch of shots from long range to help lead his team to victory.

"Just win," Green said on what he's looking forward to going

into his senior year. “That’s all.

Just winning."

Weimar is still in good shape with a winning record and has been playing quality basketball throughout the year.

"The difference was their three point shooting," said Weimar

head boy’s basketball coach Ja - kob Rehak. “They knocked down shots from outside and we did not knock down our shots. We had

plenty of looks. They didn't fall for us tonight. They fell for Flatonia, though. They shot the ball well. Give them props for that. They did a great job." Flatonia had a 6-3 lead with about three and a half minutes to go in the first quarter, which was followed by a put back layup from senior forward Huxton Kloesel and a three-pointer in response from Green for Flatonia to take a 9-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. Another three from Green made it 12-5 for the first points of the second quarter, then Fla- tonia made three layups in a row to take a double digit lead and eventually surge ahead 20-12 at halftime after a couple baskets from Weimar.

Weimar didn’t back down and kept about the same score differential for most of the quarter before a pull up three from Green and some back and forth baskets from both teams made it 35-23 in favor of the Bulldogs at the end of the third quarter.

Senior guard Kade Giese, son of head Flatonia head coach Lance Geise, made one free throw at the 5:50 mark in the fourth quarter to take a 36-25 lead, then the Bulldogs made a bunch of layups and free throws in the fourth quarter to ultimately secure the game and win 51-40.
