Oil well storage tank blazes

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that on Jan. 19, around 7:29 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call advising of a fire at an oil tank storage facility on VyVjala Lane off State Highway 95. The Flatonia Fire Department was notified and responded to the scene along with Flatonia PD officers Trey Tunis, Taylor Amos, and Sheriff Deputy Herman Olvera. Upon arrival, it was reported an oil well storage tank was fully engulfed with fire. Assis - tance was requested from the Schulenburg and Muldoon Fire Depart - ments, who also responded to the scene. Fayette County Medic 3 also responded and stood by the scene. The fire was contained and extin - guished. The cause of the fire is believed to have been a bad gasket on a heater treater.
