LA GRANGE – The Red Door Fund for Mental Health announced the return of its annual February campaign, inspiring communities to support mental health awareness.
This year, they encourage individuals, schools, businesses, and organizations to start planning how they decorate their doors, driveways, and spaces in vibrant red to symbolize hope, acceptance, and support.
A red door represents warmth, safety, and a welcoming environment—values especially vital for individuals and families navigating mental health challenges.
Through this simple yet impactful gesture, we can amplify awareness and create a supportive community where everyone feels seen and valued.
How to Get Involved:
• Start Decorating: Unleash your creativity by designing a red door or driveway display that reflects your support for mental health.
• Distribute Ribbons: Schools are invited to partner in this by distributing pre-made ribbons throughout the community, spreading awareness while providing a hands-on learning opportunity for students in philanthropy, marketing, and public speaking.
• Spread the Word: Share the campaign with your friends, family, and neighbors. Let’s turn the community red together!
• Donate: Contributions to the Red Door Fund directly support mental health education, awareness, and access to services in rural communities.
Since its inception in 2021, the Red Door Fund has invested over $196,943 to enhance mental health resources in the area. “Each decorated door is a symbol of hope and solidarity,” said Cheryl Pekar, board president of the Greater Fayette Community Foundation and chair of the Red Door Fund. “Together, we can ensure no one feels alone on their journey.”
This year, they are also designating Feb. 12 as Red Door Day, a moment for our community to unite in celebration and reflection. Whether you’re a student distributing ribbons or a business decorating your storefront, your involvement makes a difference.
Mark Your Calendar Don’t wait—begin brainstorming your designs and rallying your community now! Schools interested in distributing ribbons should contact the foundation by Friday, Jan. 24 to receive materials.
