COLUMBUS — Columbus Police Chief Skip Edman released a statement about the deadly shooting that happened on Jan. 18 at approximately 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of Walnut in Columbus.
The report stated that the Columbus Police Department responded to a victim that had been shot in the 1100 block of Walnut Street.
After further investigation, it was de- termined that the suspects fired multiple shots at a male victim. The victim was taken to the Columbus Community Hospital, where he later succumbed to his wounds.
The victim was identified as Blake
A. Burton, 19, of Columbus. Columbus Police Department has notified Burton's next of kin of the death.
At approximately 2:55 a.m., deputies with the Colorado County Sheriff’s Of- fice stopped a vehicle believed to be in volved in the shooting.
Kristopher C. Avila, 17, of Eagle Lake and Gasaan Young-Johnson, 21, of Houston, were arrested by Colorado County Sheriff's Deputies on unrelated charges. After further investigation, Avila, Young-Johnson, and a juvenile were charged with murder by the Columbus Police Department.
The Columbus Police Department is actively investigating this case as a murder and is requesting the assistance of any person who may have knowledge of this crime to contact its agency at 979732-3351.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Edman also stated that they are actively investigating this case and will be unable to release any further information for quite some time.
