Seven steps to Putting Your Financial House in Order: Your Estate Plan

In January, EEA (Extension Education Association) of Austin County, a direct part of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, conducted an educational program focused on “7 Steps to Putting Your Financial House in Order: Your Estate Plan.”

The programs was conducted by Joan Buenger of the Bleiblerville EEA club.

She urged those in attendance to take proactive steps in organizing their personal and financial records to reduce unnecessary paper clutter and improve access to critical documents. She also encouraged individuals to review key estate planning instruments such as wills, trusts, beneficiary designations, and powers of attorney. Doing this regularly will reflect current wishes and circumstances for you and your loved ones.

Buenger also stressed the importance of keeping all estate documents updated to reflect current preferences and communicating these wishes to family members and trusted advisors.

Open and clear communication about plans and priorities can prevent misunderstandings and make it easier for loved ones to act on their behalf in times of need. By taking these steps, individuals can secure their future, protect their loved ones, and eliminate unnecessary stress during critical moments. If you want to join Austin County EEA or need more information about the association, please contact Michelle Wright at the county extension office at 979-865-2072.
