SMITHVILLE — The Columbus High School band sent eight students to the UIL Solo and Ensemble contest on Feb. 18 in Smithville.
Six students received a I, superior, and two received a II, excellent, rating on their solos.
Cason Sunderman met the requirements to advance to the state competition and will perform in May.
Students receiving a superior rating are Robert Chavez -tuba, Leah Harris-Clarinet, Sienna Javier-Carter-euphonium, Casey Straw-mallets, Cason Sunderman-snare drum, Isaac Vega Hernandez-trumpet.
Excellent rating are Deanna Reaume and Ashley Rutta, both on snare drums.
