SEALY – A substitute teacher at Selman Elementary in Sealy stands accused of improperly touching students on Jan. 14, at which time the teacher was immediately removed from the classroom.
Sealy ISD Superintendent Dr. Bryan Hallmark said, “The students reported the incident to school officials and the individual was immediately removed and will not be back on any SISD campus.”
Hallmark noted the investigation continues and charges are expected to be filed against the unnamed substitute teacher.
Substitute educators are prevalent within educational institutions, serving as a vital component in the ongoing operational framework when permanent instructors are absent from their classrooms for any reason. Substitutes receive training subsequent to the successful completion of a background check, as mandated by state legislation.
The SISD commended the students who reported this matter for their vigilance in adhering to the principle of “See Something, Say Something.”
