Czech Heritage Society holds annual soup social
Officers were introduced during the annual soup social at the Fay - ette County Heritage Society meeting on Feb. 2 at the TCHCC in La Grange. LA GRANGE — The Fayette County Czech Heritage Society met on Sunday, Feb. 2, at TCHCC in La Grange, for their annual soup social. Attendees enjoyed a variety of soups (polévka), including kulajda (Bohemian mushroom), broccoli cheese, and beef soups, which were served with sandwiches and desserts. A birthday cake was served in honor of Bob Heinsohn's 80th birthday. Members with January and February birthdays include Cathleen Noska, Marilyn Cernoch and Kathie Craft.

The business meeting start- ed with new officers elected for 2025 being installed by the reigning Miss Texas Czech-Slovak Queen Madelyn Karstedt. Former treasurer since 2018, Alfred Ermis, thanked the members for their support through the years. A Facebook page for the Fayette County Czech Heritage Society has been created with information about meetings and events.

It is the time of year for high school graduating seniors to apply for scholarships. The Fayette County CHS has a $500 scholarship available for those who reside and attend school in Fayette County.

A State CHS $500 Victor Petter and a $1,000 Albert Blaha scholarship are available for first- year college students and high school seniors throughout Texas. The following Czech Heritage Society gathering will be the annual picnic with sausage wraps, bingo, and a silent auction on Tuesday, June 10.
