Care Technician Program
WHARTON — Wharton County Junior College will launch a new Continuing Education Patient Care Technician (PCT) program this spring. The program will equip students with the skills and certifications needed to excel in one of the fast- est-growing fields in the medical industry.
Thirty students will receive full scholarships, ensuring access to this exciting opportunity for qualified individuals.
The comprehensive program will prepare students for immediate entry into the healthcare workforce by offering training leading to four key certifications: Certified Patient Care Technician (CPCT/A), Certified EKG Tech -make the training program possible. These collaborations offer students valuable clinical and practicum training opportunities and direct connections to industry leaders.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average salary for a Nurse Assistant is more than $38,000 per year or $18 an hour. The PCT program is designed to be completed in six months, with graduates prepared to take all licensure examinations.
