Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reported that some - one is calling citizens of Fayette County and claiming to be from the sheriff's office and stating that the person has warrants for their arrest and are collecting fees over the phone to get rid of the warrants.
These calls appear to come
from the sheriff's office's actual phone number. These scammers
have the ability to clone phone
numbers. They are using actual names of Fayette County Sher - iff's Office employees as well. This is not a normal practice and we WILL NOT notify anyone via phone about warrants or to
collect any fees.
