Create healthy habits, low - er your disease risk, meet new friends, and achieve your 2025 health goals! Join Fayette Coun ty’s upcoming eight-week Walk Across Texas! Program, which starts March 9.
Walking is one of the least ex- pensive and easiest ways to get fit, says Sally Garrett, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent-Fami - ly & Community Heath. Physical activity helps reduce your risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
Increase your chances for success by creating a team of eight and joining your teammates as you walk towards a healthier lifestyle. Walk Across Texas! is... life-changing.
By completing the eight-week program, you will feel better, lower your stress level, and get all the additional benefits of regular
physical activity, not to mention
creating long-standing, healthy physical activity habits.
A weekly health/nutritional information newsletter will be sent to all WAT members, states Garrett. The top three individu -
al participants will receive gift cards. There is no cost for this exercise program, and you can sign up online. Challenge your friends, family members, and/ or co-workers to sign up. Other forms of physical activity can also count on your weekly activ- ity log. To learn more or register, go to howdyhealth.tamu.edu. If
you have any questions, contact the Fayette County Extension Office at 979-968-5831.
Get Moving! All you need is 30 minutes a day to realize the benefits of a healthier life.
