COLUMBUS – The Columbus Chamber of Commerce is looking for high school students that are eager to serve their community in the capacity of a Junior Ambassador.

The sixth annual Junior Ambassador Scholarship Award is now accepting applicants. Recipients of the award will have the opportunity to become involved in city-wide events and represent the community.

You will help support and promote business for the advancement of economic vitality and quality of life for the entire community.

Candidates must be full-time students who are entering the 11th grade in the fall of 2023 at Columbus High School, Classical Conversations Homeschool Program, or One Day Academy Homeschool Program.

Candidates must be in good standing within the community and school, must promote a positive image, and maintain a positive moral character.

The winning candidate should be available and willing to spend time volunteering for the chamber of commerce at events and activities from May 2023 to May 2025.

A minimum of 25 hours of service is required over two years.

The new junior ambassador(s) will join the current ambassadors, Clay Kohleffel, Julie Ana Gobert and Taylr Tipton in representing the chamber.

The chamber is grateful to outgoing junior ambassadors, Alley Fitzgerald and Lainey Schobel, for their outstanding work representing the chamber for the past two years and we wish them well in all future endeavors.

After meeting certain requirements, the recipient will be awarded a $3,000 scholarship toward his or her higher education.

Applications for the Junior Ambassador Scholarship are available at the Columbus High School counselor's office, may be downloaded at chamber. pub/JrAmbassador2023, picked up at the chamber office in the Stafford Opera House, or email [email protected] to request an application.

This is a great opportunity for a high student to represent their community, earn service hours and receive a generous scholarship toward their higher learning.

Donations towards the chamber’s scholarship fund are always welcome.

Please feel free to reach out to Janet Hollmann, events director and scholarship coordinator at the chamber of commerce at (979) 732-8385 or by email at assist@ columbustexas.org.
