COLUMBUS — Columbus city leaders are kicking off the 2025 Columbus Trash-Off event by urging all citizens to join in the annual citywide clean-up campaign.
Large item disposal will be available to Columbus citizens at the City Mainte - nance Yard on Montezuma Street from
April 2-5. Citizens may bring items to the maintenance yard Wednesday – Fri-
day from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Items accepted include washers, dryers, recliners, mattresses, limbs, fencing materials, lumber, household appliances, bicycles, exercise equipment, metal, limbs, leaves, grass clippings, and more. Refrigerators and freezers will be accepted if a techni cian has removed the freon and tagged the appliance.
Hazardous items will not be accept ed. These include pesticides, chemicals, paint, tires, batteries, televisions, computers, poisons and pharmaceuticals.
Citizens are urged to properly store these items until the next hazardous collection day.Columbus citizens may also sched ule free curbside limb chipping during the week of April 7 11 by calling the city offices in advance at 979-732-2366.
All limbs need to be placed at the curb, not in the street, away from meters, utility access holes and drainage areas. Limb chipping is available for “do-ityourself” homeowner trimming proj- ects. It is not available for professional tree-trimming projects.
Each spring local citizens work to gether to clean up the Columbus community from March through May by picking up litter, cleaning roadsides and parks, planting trees and flowers, paint ing fences, mowing vacant lots, helping neighbors with clean-up jobs, beautifying their homes and lawns, and removing debris.
