ALTAIR — The Rice boy’s soccer team was defeated by Needville High School March 20 at Rice Veteran’s Memorial Sta- dium in Altair with a final score of 4-0.

Needville had a big first half, scoring three of their four goals in the first half with their final one being right at the start of the second half.

The strong start in the beginning minutes from the Blue Jays won them this game by putting on a lot of offense and attacking the goal for the first 40 minutes of the game.

"They scored that first goal right off the bat," said Rice head boy’s soccer coach David Leist. “We had to adjust some things at halftime. We’ve been struggling in the second half all year. We have to work on our offense for next season. I’m very proud of these kids. I won’t ever say that I’m not. Offense is where we’re gonna work next year for sure." Needville scored their first

goal at the 34:12 mark in the first half, which was followed by

a few hard shots on goal from Rice’s Jael Valles Serrano about 15 minutes later, as well as Need ville’s second goal coming from a shot just beyond midfield with 14 minutes to play.

Another goal on a cross pass from the Blue Jays for a short kick-in at the 10:27 mark gave Needville a 3-0 lead at halftime.

A break away goal from Needville to start the second half put them ahead by four and Rice was unable to put a ball in the net despite many great looks and pressures on the offensive end for 4-0 Needville win as a result.
