Blast from the past with Live Oaks and Dead Folks Historical Walking Tour

COLUMBUS — Get ready for an unforgettable journey into Columbus' past! The Nesbitt Memorial Library Foundation (NMLF) is thrilled to bring back its popular Live Oaks and Dead Folks Historical Walking Tour. This encore event will take you around the Colorado County Courthouse Square, where a costumed guide will share captivating stories about the town’s rich history — all told from the perspective of the buildings themselves like a fly on the wall witnessing it all.

The tour takes place on Sunday, April 27. Gather at Hound Song Brewing Co. at 2 p.m., to grab your favorite brew before the adventure kicks off at 2:30 p.m. Please note that food and beverages are not included in the price of the event.

Prefer to stay cool indoors? No problem! Enjoy the Armchair Tour, featuring a lively narrator and slideshow — all the fascinating tales, minus the walking.Afterward, all groups will return to Hound Song Brewing Co., where everyone is welcome to relax, socialize, and continue the fun.

While there, enhance your historical journey with a copy of Live Oaks and Dead Folks – Tales and Images from the Nesbitt Memorial Library Cemetery Tour, written by Tracey Wegenhoft, featuring contributions from Susan Chandler and historical insights by Jim Kearney.

This fascinating book will be available for purchase that evening, along with other local history books offering an even deeper dive into the captivating stories of Columbus’ past.'

Every ticket purchase and book sale supports the future of the library. All proceeds will go directly toward building the Nesbitt Annex, expanding the library’s resources for the entire community.
