Flatonia Bulldogs makes first ever basketball state tournament

The Flatonia boys basketball team clinched a birth to their first state basketball tournament in school history with a 65-54 win against Thorndale High School March 4. This team has been dominant all year under head coach Chris Sodek and this isn't Sodek's first time at the state tournament. Sodek made back-to back state appearances with Mumford High School in 2012 and 2013, then won the state title with Mumford in 2014.

Flatonia is loaded with talent and scoring, along with a head coach who's been there, done that when it comes to state tournament basketball. The Bulldogs will face off with La Rue La Poynor High School March 10 at 10 a.m. at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
