The Austin County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 10 at the 722 westbound mile marker on March 15. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Caron Howling, 46, of Channelview.
During the traffic stop, the Austin County Sergeant observed illegal contraband inside the vehicle that was identified as the illegal drug MDMA (ecstasy/ Molly). At this time, Howling was placed under arrest for being in possession of a controlled substance. Waller County Sheriff’s Office K9 "Nikko" was called to the scene to assist with the investigation.
Nikko conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and showed a positive alert.
A further search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of an additional 156 grams of MDMA (ecstasy/Molly).
Howling was transported and booked into the Austin County Jail for the charge of Manufacturing/ Delivery of a Controlled Substance PG 1 (4 Grams to 200 Grams).
