LA GRANGE — The La Grange High School softball team pounded Manor New Tech High School March 13 at Lady Leopards Field in La Grange by a final score of 18-2. La Grange's bats were in full effect and their pitching was also stellar in a blowout win.

“It was nice to see that today,” said La Grange head softball coach Amanda Arlund.

"Obviously we've had a rough preseason, but we've played a lot of tough teams to prepare for this kind of thing and get in the right mindset. It was nice to see our bats come alive. We scored a lot of runs. Our last game vs Sealy, we scored a lot of runs, so it's like we're hitting that stride now. Right about the perfect time. It's what we like to see." Lady Leps junior pitcher Ma - rissa Gonzales tossed a gem with minimal damage and a couple strike outs in the two-inning onslaught. "My mindset was don't be too hard on myself,” Gonzales said. "If I mess up, just get past it and push through it."

La Grange held Manor New Tech scoreless to start the game, then scored 10 runs in their first at bat on a double from junior Teagan Branch, a couple hard base hits, and a bunch of wild pitches.

The Lady Titans answered back in the top of the second inning with a double of their own after a base hit and walk, which was followed by another monstrous inning from La Grange due to one more double from Branch, a double from junior Sar ah Kay, and a number of walks to ensure an 18-2 beatdown after two complete innings.
