EAGLE LAKE — At the meeting of ‘Women of Faith’ at the First United Methodist Church in Eagle Lake on March 21, guest speaker Christine Owen, related the importance of the Prairie Edge Museum.
This volunteer-staffed premier small-town museum is dedicated to recording and preserving local area culture and history.
Established in 1983, its collections and exhibits include artifacts from natural history, Native American culture, agriculture, politics, education, military, ranching, local industry, railroad, family and pioneer life.
The museum is located at 408 East Main St. next to the historic Eagle Lake Depot in Eagle lake.
Prairie Edge is supported by the Museum Thrift Store. The proceeds from purchases help to support the operation of the museum.
The Thrift Shop has a large collection of donated clothing, shoes, decorative items and household goods, which are on sale every other Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m.
Owen invited everyone to visit the museum for a nostalgic walk through Eagle Lake’s history and the Thrift Store to find an interesting treasure.
She also stated that volunteer helpers are always welcome.
