TRACY DIANNE (ROGERS) KENNEDY

TRACY DIANNE (ROGERS) KENNEDY

February 14, 1974 — August 20, 2024

Tracy Dianne (Rogers) Kennedy passed away on August 20, 2024 while taking care of the Passion Vine that she enjoyed growing for two years. She was born on February 14, 1974 at the Youens Hospital in Weimar to parents, Ronnie Mac and Susan (Rodgers) Rogers.

Tracy attended pre-school at St. Paul Christian Learning Academy, graduating from Columbus High School. She also attended Blinn Junior College for two years and transferred to Stephen F. Austin College, graduating in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree.

While a student at SFA, she was elected President of Human Science Education, The Vocation – Home Economics and graduated honors.

After graduation, she applied at Navasota High School. Her application was accepted to teach Consumer Science where she taught for twelve years. She always had a special admiration for her students because they could detect when she was in pain. The students would tell one another “Ms. K” is not feeling good, be quiet. She was forced to resign after brain surgery due to severe headaches.

Tracy and Michael Kennedy married in 1998, the marriage ending eight years later. Tracy enjoyed living in College Station, but realized the need to come home when Ronnie became ill and did not want Susan traveling each weekend to visit her.

Ronnie passed away on September 20, 2023. Medications and surgeries never relieved her of the constant pain. She stressed that the public would not understand why she didn’t work. She purchased Disability Insurance while teaching, which provided income after becoming permanently disabled. It was her mission not to be a burden to her family. Tracy was a considerate and kind person who wanted to be pain free. One of her favorites was: I am constantly in pain, yes constantly every single second. The pain is still there when I'm smiling. The pain is still there when I don't talk about it. When I say "I'm fine", I have a very different definition than you do.

Special prayer – Heavenly father, every morning I wake up, I’m blessed. No matter how much pain my body may be in, I know in my heart that God is watching over me. Amen. She was diagnosed with different medical symptoms, one being Fibromyalgia (a progressive disease).

Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Ronnie Rogers; grandparents, Maxel and Virginia Rogers, Alton and Bernice Rodgers; uncles, Roy Rogers and Daniel Rodgers and wife Peggy.

Tracy is survived by her mother, Susan Rogers; uncle, Donald Rodgers and wife Carol; aunt, Pam Cernoch; fur babies, Antebellum “Bella” and Jaxxon Rogers; and cousins, Nathan, Rachael, and Rayden Rodgers, Jacob and Justin Rodgers, Christy, Chad and Cassidy Tieman.

Funeral services were on Saturday, August 24, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Visitation was from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, also on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial followed at Zoar Lutheran Cemetery in Mentz, Texas.

Serving as pallbearers were Nathan Rodgers, Chad Tiemann, Justin Rodgers, Donald Rodgers, Tony Kubicek and David Ilse.
