BRUCE WAYNE KUBENA

BRUCE WAYNE KUBENA

December 19, 1962 — September 30, 2024

Bruce Wayne Kubena, 61, of Ellinger was received in the arms of our Heavenly Father on September 30, 2024.

Bruce was born in Weimar, Texas on December 19, 1962, the son of Adolph and Olivia (Beyer) Kubena. He married Denise Wied on May 10, 1986 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville, Texas and was a devoted husband to his wife for 38 precious years. In 1992, they were blessed with a loving daughter, Michelle, whom he cherished. He also adored his two older brothers, Robert (Bobby) and William (Billy). His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he nurtured each relationship with the same care and dedication that he applied to every aspect of his life.

Bruce graduated from La Grange High School in 1981 and went on to receive an Associate's Degree as an Automotive Technologist from Texas State Technical Institute in 1983. His career in the automotive industry began at Don Morrison Ford in Columbus, Texas, and he later transitioned to La Grange Ford in 1990, where he dedicated 23 years of service. In 2007, Bruce found a new calling as a truck driver for Fayetteville Propane Company, ensuring the warmth and comfort of countless homes in the surrounding counties and communities.

Bruce's commitment to his faith was evident through his lifelong service as an usher at St. Mary Cath- olic Church. He also served on the parish finance council for nearly 20 years and was a member of the Fayetteville Knights of Columbus #3168 since 2006. His steadfast presence was a comfort to his fellow parishioners and a testament to his deep-rooted values.

Bruce loved being outdoors, tinkering around on his truck and lawn mower and working on little proj- ects around the house. He was a handyman that could fix anything with his own hands and the right set of tools. His passion for the outdoors was matched only by his dedication to community service. He was a member of the Ellinger Chamber of Commerce and the Ellinger Sons of Hermann Lodge, where he donated several hours of his time to various events.

He spent much of his time volunteering for the Ellinger Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an active member for 45 years and held the role of secretary for 35 years. He was also an active member of the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department. Bruce's role extended beyond administrative duties as he became a mentor to the junior fire fighters in his later years, embodying the spirit of guidance and protection in the new generation of volunteers.

His commitment to helping others was further demonstrated in his work as a first responder. Bruce was always ready to help people in need, immediately running to put on his uniform and gear and get the fire trucks ready to go at the station. Bruce's life was indeed one of giving, and his impact on those he helped will not be forgotten.

Bruce's journey through life was marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his community. His legacy is one of unyielding service, compassion, selfless giving and love. He leaves behind a community that is safer, a family that is stronger, and a world that is better because of his servitude. Bruce Wayne Kubena's memory will be forever cherished and kept alive by all who had the honor of knowing him.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Kubena; daughter, Michelle Kubena; brother, Billy Kubena and his friend; and mother-in-law, Helen Wied. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Olivia Kubena; his older brother, Bobby Kubena; his father-in-law, Louis Wied; and his two faithful companions, Mouse and Sparky.
