Frnka Joh n Huvar, 83 of Garwood, Texas passed away peacefully at home clothed by the Blessed Mother and surrounded by family on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. He was born on July 31, 1941 to William J. and Edith Frnka Huvar. He married Sandra Waligura Huvar on September 5, 1968. Poppy, as he was known by all that loved him, was a farmer, rancher and jack-of-all trades. He was creatively inventive and loved to tinker. He enjoyed growing up in the country and told many stories of the good ole days working cows and rodeoing. He loved the cowboy life and was honored to be a volunteer at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for decades. His family was his proudest achievement, and he loved bragging on his grandkids and great-grandkids.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jack L. Huvar and William E. Huvar.
Those left to navigate life without his guidance are his wife Sandra of 56 years; daughter Michelle Missy Jurica (Jim); son Phillip Huvar (Terri); grandchildren James Jurica (Lauren), Bernadette Jurica, Noelle Jurica Curtis (Wesley), Amber Huvar Hajovsky (Craig), Joshua Jurica, Jon Kyle Huvar (Heather), and Mary Beth Huvar (Nick); and great grandchildren John Kelly Jurica, Jackson and Emma Curtis, Wyatt and Alaina Hajovsky, and Darby and Keegan Sawyer.
Visitation and Chaplet of Divine Mercy was recited at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, Texas on Monday February 17, 2025 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A private funeral mass took place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nada, Texas, on Monday February 17, 2025 at 3:00 pm. Burial followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
His grandsons proudly served as Pallbearers. Memorial Contributions can be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, P.O.
